This is the only buffalo chicken dip recipe you will ever need. It perfectly balances creamy, tangy, and spicy flavors, making it an irresistible crowd-pleaser for any gathering. Simple to prepare with a short list of ingredients, it bakes into a warm, gooey centerpiece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 oz block cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Celery sticks, tortilla chips, or crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Let cream cheese soften at room temperature.
  2. In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, and sour cream. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. Stir in the Frank’s RedHot sauce until fully incorporated.
  4. Fold in the shredded chicken, 1 cup of the cheddar cheese, the blue cheese crumbles (if using), and most of the sliced green onions (reserve some for garnish). Mix until even.
  5. Transfer mixture to a 9-inch oven-safe dish. Smooth the top. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until hot, bubbly at the edges, and golden on top.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with reserved green onions. Serve immediately with dippers.

Notes

For a slow cooker method, combine all ingredients (using only 1 cup cheddar) in the cooker. Cook on LOW for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Keep warm for serving. Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid a lumpy dip.
