This flavorful ground beef bowl is a weeknight hero, ready in just 25 minutes. It features a sweet, savory, and slightly spicy glaze that transforms simple ingredients into a comforting and addictive meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up, until fully browned.
  2. Push the beef to the sides of the pan. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the center and sizzle for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and glazes the beef.
  5. Remove from heat. Stir in most of the sliced green onions.
  6. Serve the beef over bowls of cooked rice. Garnish with the remaining green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Use low-sodium soy sauce to control saltiness. For a gluten-free version, use tamari. The beef mixture stores well in the fridge for up to 4 days or can be frozen.
