These Firecracker Hot Dogs are the ultimate party snack, featuring mini smoked sausages glazed in a sweet, sticky, and spicy sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes with minimal effort, they are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14 oz) Lit’l Smokies or mini smoked sausages
  • 1/2 cup apricot preserves or peach jam
  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1-2 tablespoons sriracha or hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Optional garnish: thinly sliced green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the apricot preserves, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, sriracha, brown sugar, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until smooth.
  2. Pour the sauce into a large skillet or saucepan. Add the Lit’l Smokies and stir to coat evenly.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and glazed the sausages.
  5. Transfer to a serving platter. Spoon any extra glaze over the top and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve warm with toothpicks.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use tamari and certified GF barbecue sauce. For extra caramelization, broil the glazed sausages for 2-3 minutes after simmering. Keep heat at a gentle simmer to prevent the sugary glaze from burning.
