The kids eyes will light up when you hand them their own special mug of this creamy, chocolatey delight. Its a family friendly treat that makes everyone feel the warmth of the season. These edible chocolate cups transform hot chocolate into a magical experience where you drink your cocoa and then eat the delicious melty cup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces high quality dark, milk, or white chocolate (chopped finely, or use melting wafers)
  • Optional for filling: Mini marshmallows, hot chocolate mix, crushed peppermint candies
  • Optional for decorating: Contrasting chocolate for drizzling, holiday sprinkles, edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace. Ensure your molds are clean and completely dry. Any moisture can cause the chocolate to seize.
  2. Temper the Chocolate. Follow the tempering instructions to melt and cool your chocolate to the correct temperatures. This is the most important step for a professional looking finish.
  3. Coat the Molds. Using a small spoon or a clean paintbrush, carefully coat the inside of each mold cavity with the tempered chocolate. Make sure the layer is even and thick enough to be sturdy. Pro tip: You can do a second coat after the first has set to ensure no thin spots.
  4. Set the Cups. Place the filled molds in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm and has pulled away from the sides slightly.
  5. Unmold Carefully. Gently flex the silicone mold to pop the Christmas Chocolate Hot Cups out. If using a rigid mold, you may need to tap it firmly on the counter.
  6. Decorate. Once unmolded, decorate your cups with drizzles and sprinkles as desired.

Notes

Store completely finished and set Christmas Chocolate Hot Cups in a single layer in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. They freeze beautifully for up to 3 months. Place them in a rigid, airtight container to prevent cracking. Do not reheat. They are meant to be used cold and will melt from the heat of the liquid you pour into them.
