These one-bowl chocolate chip cookie bars are the ultimate easy dessert. They deliver all the chewy, gooey goodness of classic cookies without the scooping and chilling, perfect for feeding a crowd or creating sweet family memories.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus a handful more for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Whisk in eggs and vanilla until glossy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing with a spatula just until combined. Do not overmix. Fold in 2 cups chocolate chips.
  5. Press dough evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until edges are golden brown and center is just set.
  7. Let cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Use parchment to lift out before cutting into squares.

Notes

For clean slices, let bars cool completely before cutting. Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. For gluten-free bars, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
